Madekwe was born into an ethnically mixed family. She is English as well as her father was Nigerian. She was born on an estate in south London community estate, and at the age of fourteen, she attended The Brit School. In London, she studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in which her acting diploma was obtained. While at the academy, she appeared in a number of stage productions, including the King Henry V playing Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started her acting career with a film titled Storm Damage. Since then, she has made guest appearances on Teachers, Doctors, Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe landed her first motion picture in the 2007 Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. Then, she was the lead in Elisha, an episode of the BBC Three pilot drama, in West 10 LDN. In her role, she also played Ollie for six episodes from Trexx, Flipside, and Flipside. In 2008, the actress was offered Bambi, the lead role in the ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe also starred as the lead character in How to lose friends & make people feel alienated and be apathetic, which premiered on Sony Pictures Entertainment back in 2008. A couple of her credits on stage are Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) as well as Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe's US debut came in 2009, with The drama The Beautiful Life. The series aired only two episodes prior to being removed from The CW. The actress was selected in February 2011 in the role of Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. Madekwe was in the episodes in the series' second season as the show's regular. In May 2013, the announcement was made that she would be departing the show following her guest appearance in the opening episode for its third season. In 2014 and 2016, she starred in the role of Tituba on the show Salem. Madekwe, her longtime partner, Iddo, married Madekwe in June 2012. They've collaborated on Secret Diary of a Call Girl in the past, and Goldberg has also appeared alongside Madekwe in the television series Salem.

Ashley Leggat is a Gemini-nominated actor who was raised by an extended family. She was born to Patty and Roy Leggat. Four of her older brothers were also in the family including twins Todd and Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley grew in arenas or baseball fields because her four athletic brothers all played baseball, hockey, and both in the spring and summer. Ashley was unable to walk, but was able to dance. This led to the fact that as she grew older She discovered Baby Ballet. Ashley was captivated by dancing at the age of. Until she graduated from High School, Ashley danced competitively in the highest divisions of ballet, tap, jazz and pointe as well as acrobatics, lyrical, musical theatre and hip-hop. Ashley took home the best soloist prize at each major dance competition, including International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance among some.
