
Bellamy Young (born Amy Maria Young; February 19, 1970)[1] is an American actress, producer and performer, most well-known for her portrayal of Melody "Mellie" Grant in the ABC drama show Scandal (2012-2018). In 2014, Critics' Choice TV awarded her the top Supporting Actress Award in Drama Series. Also, she was part of the Fox series Prodigal Son (1919-2021). Young started her career as an actor as a theatre actor. In 1997, Young made her Broadway debut in the role of Mary in the initial The Life cast. The Life. [8][9] She has also performed Off-Broadway in Stephensondheim's show Merrily We Roll Along (1994), and the musical of Randy Newman Faust (1995-1996). She made her TV debut as"Dr. Courtney Evans in 1995 on the NBC soap opera Another World soap opera. She appeared in two parts in the show Law & Order, 1997 and 1998. In 1999 , she made her film debut with tiny roles in the crime thriller Black and White and later joined the cast of several independent movies. Around the turn of the century, she began to be seen on a variety of drama and comedy television shows, like The Drew Carey Show and The X Files. Young has made more than 30 appearances in TV shows between 2000 and 2011.
